    Bill,

I agree with Jon to this extent: sharing a general discussion of the merits of these blanking techniques (and the relative disadvantages as well) is useful to a lot of PL members. It is also very interesting even if we don't all participate. Granted, proprietary techniques may require some restraint, but the dissemination of ideas is a MAJOR purpose of PL.

The extent to which I would agree is the same extent to which I'd want people asking these questions in our own forum, where they would surely be answered:
    http://pangolin.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=24

Posting ScannerMAX-related questions in that forum is surely the way to help the greatest number of people.

And behind the cool facade of PL lurks the sophistication of a nursery school recess.

Srsly?? ...and here I (sincerely) thought we were having a nice interchange / discussion.. I got exactly the info I was after, Thanked-you, and simply posted here to share the info with the 'rest of the class'... ...And I was only differing with 'Skype vs PL' - wasn't trying to chuck a molotov-cocktail at the Pango-forums, O-K?

...Was rather looking-forward to hearing about those other mech-blanking techniques I obviously missed-out on, but.....Simply as-part of the discussion, I innocently post *a* real-world example of *one* method I've actually gotten to work - (and, work-well..) ...and I end-up channeling Napoleon?? wtf???

I think this was probably one of the main reasons he wanted to Skype. Sarcasm is a little hard to differentiate from Douche-bagism and ass-hatism through chat alone. Face it Jon, though funny at times, you do have a very sarcastic manner and it is a little hard to read you at times.

    Just sayin....

..and PL's true-value is exactly why I did-not want to ask the questions I asked 'exclusively' over Skype.. Later? Once some testing is-done / more guidance is needed? Sure. But I asked what I asked, here, for a specific and (imo, valid..) reason. (One, besides 'general sharing', is that there are other PL'ers I'm 'collaborating with' on the project that this info is pertinent-for.. obviously, once a skype-convo is gone, I can't PM someone a 'link to it'.. )

..Indeed, but Bill should know me well enough by now to know that I am neither a DB nor wear my own ass as a hat. Just sayin....

Hmm, but I launched no (real) 'sarcasm' until Post 255.. Just mild / friendly-jest, at-worst... So, I fail to see where the fire is / was.. What-was Post 252 was not done / posted as some 'affront to anyone's experience-base / knowledge-base / manhood'... It was simply an example of 'I've gotten that to work, so... eager to learn what I (obviously) don't know / missed'.. Plus, I thought my rediculous-overuse of 'smileys' and such, would only serve to make this low-bandwidth form of comm'ing easier to get where one was 'coming-from'... I guess not..

No one has 20/20 vision of themselves, especially in-here, so.. Sorry if I came-across as a sarcastic douche-hat..

The points raised regarding the value of a public forum vs. a private one-on-one chat are valid. As I wrote in post 252, my request is to post in our forum and we'll answer. It's as simple as that. Reasons Planters stated are even more valid on our own forum, because, especially over the long term, more people looking for advice on ScannerMAX scanners will be going there (aside from the fact that this particular thread is already hi-jacked to hell...)

And Jon, I simply find that it isn't worthwhile to dig through all of the sarcasm (and yes, recipients interpret it as sarcasm, not just "mild / friendly jest") to get what you're trying to say. It comes across that you know everything, you've got it handled, and you don't need anyone tying to actually teach you something new.

And finally, questioning PL members' manhood is certainly no way to earn friends and influence people...

Even these slap downs are kinda interesting.

Personally, Jon I didn't take your presentation as inappropriate. You had asked if these new scanners would be compatible with the loads that YOU would expose them to to better accomplish blanking that YOU are already doing successfully. Bill suggested that there are numerous (nine?) other techniques that might do what you want better. He suggested this here and I am interested to learn what he has to suggest. This doesn't seem that complex. Off the top of my head I can visualize a few retro-reflections, zigzags, flags and so on, but what really works and how to do this would be fascinating.

A little humor isn't going to hurt anyone, or it shouldn't anyway.

    Bill,

I don't have any specific questions. I'll wander over to the other forum and see what's up.

    Bill,

Can you you help me out here. This is not a criticism nor is it intended as a dig. Are you requesting that a discussion of blanking techniques should be INITIATED on the Pangolin forum as opposed to here or that there has been a discussion of this topic on Pangolin and it would be redundant to rehash it here?
