Well, I guess there's no specific laws in the netherlands. As for, www.tmsproductions.nl, I might be a dunce when it comes to lasers, but I know not to do that. Makes me wonder how many watts are hitting the audience in each of those beams? I'd say about a watt, but I've never done a show.

lets see, sticks a metal tool into the beam to burn the coating off the tool. Sticks paper into the beam and his scatter is above the MPE in about 1 millisecond. Optically aided viewing through the camera viewfinder (cheap camera, can tell that from the vid quality) No googles. high peak power pulses on the ceiling and and on the wall with no visible fire exteinguisher in a laundry room full of flamables. Doesnt have white light onm in the room to constrict his pupils. Blash shield optic is missing. reflecting power back into a ktp? Can we SAY not long for this world.? I dont want to even drive on the same road with him!

Now I play fast and loose some times, but only in my lab with the warnings up, googles on, and preplaned terminations. And never more then half a watt cw. That was sooo foolish.
I hope his wife notices the discolored walls and smacks him

I thought q-switched were pulsed. I can't see how a pulsed laser would be good for a laser show. But then, I'm still new to it.

Yep Q-sitched is pulsed but its the repetition rate that determines if its good for show or not. The high peak power will make lots and lots of green that will look mighty impressive as fat (phat) green beams. Big beam FX like this could get away with a lowish rep rate its when you start scanning the dots will appear and again only at lower rep rates or faster scna speeds - there is a trade off there.
A laser show does not have to scan.

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

    Hey Steve! -

#1 - HOW did you get your title changed to Member, LoD??!!! Classic!!!

#2- Ps - have not forgotten about your dye-head optics, just have not been back 2 NY yet - should be later this month... will be out in So Cal first...

Now, those of you that may have visited my / our YouTube videos / and or seen pix of my work with KTPs, ie: http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...1&d=1199082454 before you brand me a 'hypocrite' - YES, I DO work with these, but in the OPPOSITE fashion - all certified / re-certified / certified projectors / designs, with a boat-load of safety controls, LEAST of which, is a BEAM SHUTTER...

No, Conan gig WAS dpss, but Pat's point is completely valid, regardless - the POINT of BOTH of these 'bad examples', is to help the PL'ers / Laserists, like our very good man, Nano, here (wassup, bro! only using you cause you posted, here - I am sure you are a smart / safe guy!) appreciate what the dangers ARE with doing gigs like this, and HACK WORK, like this KTP 'death-sled' - when people flout / avoid / blow-off the Regs / guidelines, and just go blazing beams/fx around cause it's "KEWL" - SOMEbody, SOMEwhere, WILL get hurt, OR BLINDED, and WE (as Laserists) will ALL suffer, from things like 'FAA moratoriums' / $600. Registration Fees for EVERY BLOODY LASER AND SHOW (above 5mW), and 2-years, a zillion-pages, countless hours, lots of $$ - JUST to get the CDRH to BUDGE 1/2" off the bench on ANY (practical) audience scanning, etc...

It's just about fighting against the 'hacks' and sticking to the 'higher (though more expensive / time/money-consuming) ground' of
    'doing it RIGHT'.

Have I 'ranted enough' for today?

    peace...

Default Muhahahaha I Laugh At The Madness!!!! My Fault!!!!

Here it is boys, the first roll out of the first commercially available 40 watt KTP laser. Back then I called it the Ultra Ray. I introduced it in the summer of 1994. MUHAHAHAHA ITS ALL MY FAULT!!!!!! MUHAHAHAHAHAAHH. By the time of this introduction I had been working on this design with Laserscope for over 2 years. Unless anyone else can show me different I was the first one to EVER USE A 40 KTP Laser in a Light Show Application...it was Oroville Dam, Oroville California 1991 MUAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. ITS ALIVE!!!!!

Look at Greg M in the bottom picture pretending to take pictures after I took the cover off..... MUHAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!

At this time I had already inked a deal with Laser Fantasy to be the sole supplier. Then came the Las Vegas Installation and the rest is history. Now this product is no longer available and anyone with $5k in their pocket is converting old vagina burners. MUHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

not bragging, but boasting!!!! because thats how i roll!

ILDA only gave it a second place for technical achievement...hahahaha what a laugh! The laser that revolutionized the entire industry gets second place! I ll leave it up to you to research what got first place, but it didnt change the face of entertainment industry. I'll never forgive them for that one!!!!!

Yeah, id say a bit of sour grapes!Click image for larger version.

    Hey Aaron (Allthat) -
    I need a 'worshiping / bowing down / sacrificing-to smiley', ASAP!!!

You Rock, Wizard of 'Emerald City'! (and, yes that is both a 2-level compliment, AND a coded request to put up pix from 'Brng Man'! )
    - damn, wish I could have worked with ya!

    - J

PS - and THANK YOU for showing us 'noobs' HOW it is done RIGHT...(and please, Buffo, don't come back with 'yeah, but we're only hobbyists - Weee can't do stuff THIIIIS Goood!!) YES YOU FRIGGIN CAN!!! - you think Pat just 'squeezed this out of a tube'?? NO - he's DAMN SMART, but even HE learned from others, and then APPLIED what he learned and made MAGIC!!!! Shows what can be achieved if you apply yourself / what you've learned, and determine NOT to EVER do HACK work!!!
(but Pat, you STILL deserve a 'burnt offering' - hey, what if I get 'normellow', to roast the 'Technoviking' with his 'laundry-room death star', there?? Would that be enough to appease for ILDA's foolish sins??
