    Hi Steve

Further to our PM's I ordered my plans yesterday. The whole process went smoothly, just need to get all the parts now.

    Cheers

    great work
I love the video... thanx for sharing !

But, it uses mirror on top to sens the input from the hand ?
Why not use a cam to se the beams where they hit.
And a software that rekognize the missing dot as a tone ..

cinda like the Laser grafitti software

My sensor is a modified version of Genesis's sensor. We both sense the reflected light from our hands.

The mirrors above my head are just for show.

The WiiMote is definitely the way to go with the laser harp - take off the IR sensor and replace with the correct color notch filter. Full gesture control and about 80% note-on/note-off sensing for up to 4 notes.

Genesis - you are right about the photography - I had to use a very expensive video camera to record my movies, set to +18db on the exposure.

All my photographs are long exposures with rear-curtain strobes.
If I wasn't a photographer - I'd probably be unable to do it.

I just heard that my efforts were awarded a Red Ribbon on the Trossen Robotics site.

That'll pay for the parts for my next venture the Doesn't-Have-A-Catchy-Name-Yet-Theremin-Type-Thing.

I've come to the conclusion that many people in the US haven't heard of Jean-Michel Jarre. I come from the UK where I grew up watching his concerts, so I've been aware of the laser harp concept for a long time.

I always wanted to try and reproduce it and it has taken a looooooong time...

I get the odd post on the videos from people who say "You didn't invent that, Jean-Michel Jarre did" so I have explain to them that Jarre didn't invent it either...

    History of the laser harp:

...and again, to all the people on this board that helped me to understand scanners, and photodiode filters - thanks!

the color change is a test of a binay.

my project is started since 3 years and i make lot of work on the hardware/software. the hard part was the frameless sensor system ^ ^.

Jean Michel Jarre doesnt invent the laser harp but i 've meet the real first creator of the laser harp. Bernard Szajner
    http://www.szajner.net/

his harp was used by JMJ and was created in 1980

this is a nice guy i'm happy to meet him

    Now with added WiiMote...

I just got the WiiMote sensor added to the Laser Harp in time for a TV interview I have to give on Monday. I have to thank Nintendo for putting these things out so cheaply - great technology for tinkerers like me...
