Default Next best thing to a laser show???

Here are some pics of the Daft Punk stage show...

Taken at Global Gathering, it is the most amazing thing I have seen that isn't a laser...

Basically it's a huge pixel curtain making up the back screen. The whole Pyramid is made of LED Video Screens and is surrounded by a trellace of LED Tubes, LED Strips around the Pyramid and flanked with Martin Mac intelligent lights..

Here is a video from the O2 Wireless festival... not taken by me..

Must have cost a fortune, but worth every penny.

That's weird - there was no band - just that robot singing.

Ahhh yes, it's amazing what you can do with a bunch of LED's and a life size clockwork robot these days

I just saw that - somewhere...

I have to agree that was pretty darn awesome!

I wonder what they used for the media server...

Well I guess I just answered my own question...

But I have to say I am against the Mac line of fixtures... pht... I don't like working on them, I don't like working with them. I might have to get a Vari-Lite tattoo to show my support...

IMHO Daft Punk is one of the most overrated bands in the world musically.

But their shows are good though)

BTW MAC line is overrated as well.
I hired an Italian guy to do my wires. Now they look like spaghetti!

Hmmm I wouldn't say the most overrated... I think they have their moments, but I think they are talented in different spectrum of music IMO. I'm just bothered to see the effects companies' have on the music industry *ahem* clear channel *ahem*

If you don't know what I'm talking about do some research... I just get in a frustrated rant every time I talk about it

Yeah the Mac line of fixtures... they have their certain qualities that are nice. But I have to say I am a fan of the color rendering on the Vari-Lite fixtures (you can't beat their red!) also the speed a Vari-Lite has is hands down the best available!

The downside to that is of course maintenance, which is necessary for either line of fixtures, however, the wear and tear of the faster movement becomes apparent on the Vari-Lite. Hence the reason why you're more likely to see a mac in a club over a Vari-Lite

Ok I hit the 2 rants per post limit

I have to agree, I truly dislike Daft punk. I Hate vocoder sound. My personal opinion aside, that is a rocking stage.
    Led's are changing everything.

AS for the Mac's They have issues some times as do all moving lights. Vari*Lite does make some great fixtures. They are really expensive, but nice. They soured me a long time ago when they were in the "sue me, sue you, sue everybody" phase. This is the same reason I will never in my life spec color kinetics for anything ever again.

As for martin, I am biased we were dealers here and they treated us well (most of the time).

I would like to play with the ShowGun from high end. It looks like the first decent product from them in a long time. After they borked the hog3 they lost a lot of sales. The catalyst is a good product though.

Whatever you do stay the HELL away from Coemar. They screwed us, cost us a long time client and a lot of money.

    Chad

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
