Yeah, but you'd have to have them *really* far out of tune before you break the scanner itself. (Well, with the exception of the G-120's - they're rather fragile from what I've been told.)
I think Jian's point was that a manufacturing defect is more likely to kill a scanner in the long run - assuming that you tune them correctly and don't over-drive them.

I continiue this post...
I got a problem with my DT-40 PRO !
The bottom line in X and the right line in the Y is "shaking" when I use it .
if I make a circle in the middle there is noting wrong..
But if I draw a line at the bottom, the line will "shake" up and down ....
It`s a random problem that happens somethimes..
what can it be ?
Bad wires ?
bad plug ?
thanx for help
sounds similar to mine.
but mine are dt40's not dt40pro's

Yes, I agree. But that's actually one reason why we include a large amount of realy professionally-programmed laser shows and sample frames. Sometimes I hear laserists complain when they go to see a laser show and see a lot of re-cycled Pangolin-provided material. Laserists recognize this, but ordinary show-going patrons do not. So which would you rather see in the industry -- recycled Pangolin material made by someone who was only given a few days to whip together an entire show, or... a really crappy show?
We take a "community" approach to things. A bad laser show hurts the whole community. A bad show hurts all of us.
In any event, yes David I agree wholehartedly.
I haven't tested them per se, but at various PL events, I have tuned up plenty of them. They seem fine. I think the biggest difference you might see is that the mirrors are thinner on DT-40s when compared with the latest generation DT-40 PROs. The size of the mirror on DT-40s was chosen back when Jian (like almost everyone without in-depth scanner knowledge, including a very large company that has four letters in their name) thought that thinner mirrors must certainly be better because they are lighter.
I still have your DT-40 PROs David. We'll have to get together some time, or I will have to ship them to you.
Best regards,
William Benner
Hey Bill;
David will be at FLEM Mark II on March 1st. He won't be able to join us for dinner at Fishbones the night before, but he *will* be at the event on Saturday. Maybe you can just bring the scanners with you and give them to him there?
Adam
Blah blah
Stop talking about mirrors, galvo, and coffe like you are the only one in this world :P haha
I live 800mile (7hours air flight) away from you !
And never have anybody from "Pangolin" tuned my galvos..
And I dont think they ever will do :\ heh..
Back to topic..
You talked about thin mirrors!
I got a feeling that my 1.5Watt green laser is loosing alot of output power in the thin DT-40 mirrors !
Is there anybody that can give me a hint (maybe a URL) where I can purchase 2 mirrors that will fit to my 1.5Watt green laser with DT40 ?
Andy_con: DT40 and DT40-PRO is basicly almost the same.... just minor changes..
But the "shaking" botton is a problem for me :s
Becouse I need the laser-raider-beam-mirrors to be P E R F E C T calibrated to my galvo !!
Hello littleglowIs there anybody that can give me a hint (maybe a URL) where I can purchase 2 mirrors that will fit to my 1.5Watt green laser with DT40 ?
I can send 2 scanner mirrors to you freely. but we need chance, as you know shipping is expensive, if you can pay the shippment, anytime will be ok, I don't mind,.
Best regards!

Hi,
The problem most from the parts layout and the GND problem.
You can try :
1.If the drivers install in the case are horizontal, try change them.
2.Move the powersupply .
3.Check all GND again.Try add the GND connect again.
Maybe looks same, but more dissimilarity you can't seeAndy_con: DT40 and DT40-PRO is basicly almost the same.... just minor changes..

resonance frecuency changed the form a little your ball bearings.
I had the same problem with my 6800 Cambridge. Were destroyed when I put into operation in my “time machine” to accelerate light, while it work I pass several times for his resonance freq when cambridge´s returned to the projector drew graphics as dt40 that you have, lines with small signals such as line noise.
Choice the Solution:
1. Replace damaged galvo, retuned your system and keep out of the resonance frequencies
2. Replace ball bearing. More work
ilda TEST to 18Kpps has Bandwidth under 10khz, if your scanner (DT40) has resonance at 10khz (like graphic BB MOD) you should use no more than 18kpps (I know that your scanner could be draw 40k but only one kind of graphic ILDA TEST other graphics and shows has in your spectrum resonance freq, and it destroy himself), use >30kpps and it ´ll cause his scanner passes several times by the resonance frequency.
or
3. If you want to use the scanner at hi pps you need to make a table with frecuency response for you scanner, identify the first resonce frecuency and design and built a digital filter tuning at the same frecuency, and make a lot of graphics
Resonance frequencies destroy cups, bridges,.. virus… galvos etc etc etc..
Cheers!
