    Actually, if you already have a single male-male cable, you can EXTEND it by adding a male-female cable. So all you need is a single male-male, and then all your "extensions" can be the more common male-female variety.

    But yeah, I see where you're coming from. It's easier to have just 1 cable type instead of 2.

    Indeed, that's why I chose male-female (Just like in the professional lighting and sound industry, where everybody loves XLR-cables (male-female)).

    I'm currently finishing the drawings for new housings, and it will also house the QM2000.NET system. This means I'll use RJ-45 connectors for Ethernet-data (no ILDA anymore). That's nice, but also means I'll use male-male CAT5 cables.
