    Default Extremelasers BLM75

I purchased this http://www.extremelasers.com/BLM.htm laser a little over a year ago with no intentions of using it with a laser scanner. A year later and I am now trying to build an RGB projector. On the website under output mode it says CW analog or modulation and then it has (TTL) on the side. I am pretty sure my laser is TTL and not analog modulation, but is there anybody here who can confirm that?

TTL, Jure lie to charge 10% of his retail price to add analoge to a laser he has sold.

Well that is a huge bummer. Looks like I know what I'll be spending my tax refund on this year. It's still a cool laser though, the color is beautiful and I measured it to 78mW. Is there a way to change it from TTL?

Rumor has it there is a way, but from what I hear it would be as much hassel as saving up the cash for a analog one. It has been asked here and shot down. I think I asked and marconi shot it down.

    Cool

Marconi is right. It's not just a matter of varying the current drive to the pump diode (while preventing an over-current condition). Analog blanking on a DPSS laser also requires very accurate control of the two TEC's in the head. Usually you end up with a feed-forward controller tied to the blanking input and a feedback controller tied to the thermal sensor on the TEC. Balancing those two controllers is a bitch, and you have to do it for BOTH TECs. Then too, the response curves are different for the two! If you get it wrong, you get severe jellybeaning. If you get it *really* wrong, you can ruin the crystals. Most people decide that it's not worth the trouble.

As if you weren't going to spend the refund on lasers (or laser related gear) in the first place...

Ha!, you are right. That is where all of my extra money usually ends up.

Extra money?!?! I think I might stop eating just so I can buy more lasers... its like a drug now - soon there will be anti-laser commercials, and Photon Patches and gum

Where did that Laser Enthusiast Anonymous thread go? ... 'My name is Max and I'm a Laserholic'

Laser Enthusiast Anonymous - sounds like a good name for a new LEM maybe for the Midwest... hmmm
