Question 4X Blue-ray ma please help me.

    Hey.

I wanna make a 4X blue-ray laser, please don't post "6X iz wat betta mon" these days there REALLY hard to get.

So back to the point I want to know whats the "long life current" for a 4X blueray.

I would also like to know the currents to get, 140mw,150mw,160mw out of a 4X blueray (Aixiz arylic).

Greetings and welcome. The best answer for you is to tell you to doa bit of searching here on the forum. ***Hint*** Look for drlava's threads...

    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...ead.php?t=4467

And then shoot daedal a PM; he has been building several 4x and 6x modules.

And I hate to say it... a 6x diode isn't that expensive compared to a 4x. Even if you already have a 4x, I would get a 6x for your fun. They aren't that hard to find.

I'd go for a steady 150mA for a decent life.
The same model diode can vary quite a lot, so if I said 'x'mA = 'y'mW then it might be slightly off for your diode. You'd be better off starting low and tweaking it up, with it on the meter.

BTW: Steve sells the 6x diodes, and has them in stock here: http://www.lasersurplusparts.com/ind...20ca0dc79d1592

    All the best,
    Dan

    Question

I just thought of something... What is your goal for this diode? Handheld, or projector? This is going to make a big difference in life span. A projector is going to beat that diode's ass for several hours at a time. A hand held is going to gently stroke it for a few minutes at a time.

I would be interested to see how the life of a pulsed diode is compared to a constant current for the same time period.

Again, sorry for batting things off to other forums, but there are two threads which may be of direct interest to you:

Problem with steve is that his shipping is a ***ch!

The shipping to where I live for that 6x is 44 USD!!

so with the 6X thats 104USD.

Now that that price I'd rather spend another 100-180 and get a 8x and get me around 400mw with a ebay lens.

Yes it will be a hand-held, but I won't be stroking it.
