    Default Lens specs.

Looking at the lens-27 datasheet from Roithner it states:

    • very high efficiency
    • f = 3.6 mm
    • N.A. = 0.45
    • 1 glass lens, AR coated
    • designed for 633 nm ± 30 nm
    • dimension 11.7 x ∅ 9 mm, M 9 x 0.5 mm
    • black aluminium
    • divergence: 2 mrad

    What does N.A. mean?
What does divergence as a lens spec mean?

    Hello Zoof,

NA stand for numerical aperture, but i dont know the divergence spec.

a easy eplanation of divergence: The more mrad value, the more the laser beam will spread out/ increase in size from it's emmited divergence.

small divergence value is good, large divergence number is bad.

Bad divergence: a flash lite, beam spreads out very quick
    good divergence: a laser.

    hope it makes sense

    Thanks Grimm!

About divergence, I know what it is but I just don't see what it means as a lens specification.

Yes, it is expensive! I'm trying to figure out what is so special about it.

Does anyone know a good source for collimating optics M9 0.5 pitch?
    Glass for >100mW red ARC
And non-coated or 405nm coated for blu ray diodes?

    I quite like this collimator:

Has a small o ring holding the lens in place, and a cay046 just drops in place of the lens thats already in the collimator..

[edit] Its not a metric thread tho..

And a few of them mounted

Just waiting on some mini mirror mounts to be made.. Planning on using 2 of these mounts to combine 6 diodes

Numerical arpeture is a measure of how well it collects light over a geiven angle.

    Dave

Will you be selling any of these mounts/mirrors? I'd like to have a go at combining 4 x MaXYZmodules to get 900mW.

If you have some spare please PM me and let me know how much you want for them.

    Cheers
