    Talking

    Andy...

My wife was looking over my shoulder while I was viewing your pics. The first thing she asked was, "What did they paint it with, a paintball gun?"

I laughed so hard I spewed diet pepsi out my nose! (Ouch...)

No offense intended dude. I'm sure it will look better once it dries and you peel off the masking!

Coz it's a bout an inch thick maybe :/

Better to layer it up in thin coats and let it dry touch-dry in between, will be far more hard wearing. Thick coats tend to peel and flake easier.

Did you key the surface first at all? A lot of those metal coatings tend to be quite resistant to paint sticking as well.

Edit: Actually, I'll reserve that til the masking comes off, can't work out if i'm looking at the masking or metal work!

you may have put the paint on too thick - you really need to dust it on in thin layers building it up. It may seem long winded but the results willl be neater and will take less time than trying to clear off a nasty looking one and starting again.
Also you need to be careful painting on paint - I kmow it sounds crazy but some paints will react with each other and cause a nightmare of wrinkling or peeling. Another good reason to dust it on - the solvent will be alsmost gone when it hits the surface and so wont work its way into the base paint.

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

Thick paint is OK as long as it is allowed to dry properly before handling. The problems with thick paint usually show up as runs or bubbles due to the solvent flashing out.
