Hi doc,
Please explain to me what to look out for when using 3ds max then to swift (what options do you use in the rendering or object color or outline thikness ????)
waiting paciently for your tutorial....
thx your the man !
w.
Actually I'm testing Illustrate 5 now and it looks like it's better option then Swift. It doesn't do so much anti aliasing so TraceIt picks up lines better.
But there is a situations when swift is better. Specially when you need to do human faces.

I don't know I'm stuck between those 2 programs and can't decide.
Here is a trial of swift 3d max

Export disabled but like I said in tutorials we don't need it we need it's engine. All savings are done to BMP/TIFF by 3ds Max itself. So for us this trial is fully functional!.

I don't know - it's a feeling. After a while you will know what have to be in single line and what in cartoon fill. Also you need to relearn to use 3dsmax for swift and traceit. Nothing fancy. Plain colors.
Here is a few examples. They all small version of rendered frames before traced in Traceit As you can see some single line and some filled objects.

Hey Dr.
how is the tutorial comming along?
Illustrate I think does a better job then Swift. The thing is that Swift does antialiasing by default and it can't be turned off when Illustrate! does allow to turn antialiasing off and that what makes all difference. Illustrate is harder to use but works better. Allows to convert maps as well as does a very good job with shadows and lights. Swift 3d does a very poor job in that department.

It would be cool if TraceIt was trial like Illustrate or Swift, but all saving functions are blocked in public demo version
