    Default Layout 3

After some advice in this thread I have changed my layout so that I have easy access to the DT-40 pots. Now when the enclosure is open it is good access to the scanner amps from the side of the projector.

I have also made the projector even smaller.. its now 30x30cm (12"x12")
I also put a powerful fan to push air from the backside and a small fan (or I might just go with an opening behind the laser head.
There will also be an air tight "case" around the mirrors/laser opening.
No air will then escape out the scanner opening, and the mirrors should stay cleaner longer.
This will also force the airflow across the laser head.

Is this a good solution or am I not thinking clear here?

    One question:
Is a shutter required? Or can I just use the interlock to disconnect laser power?

It may be best to use both with that kind of power. Make sure that your shutter blocks the beam when power to it is cut

But is there any legal requirements for a beam shutter like there is with emergency stop interlock and other requirements (proper marking, MPE levels and documentation)?
Where do I get one? What i normal price for a simple beam shutter?

In the United States, you would be required to have a mechanical shutter. In Norway, I'm not sure... Nevertheless, it's a good idea to have one. You can use a GM-20 actuator, an STP-8 actuator, or even a solenoid (be sure it's rated for continuous service though).

Your layout looks fine. Might want to add a filter on the air inlet to keep dust out.

Thanks for clearing up, I think I will go for a beam shutter, this will also allow for the laser to warm up and stabilise before show.

I searched for laser shutters, but found them very expencive.
Then I found this complete unit for $10 !! on German Ebay.
Seller ships Worldwide, and the info is in English.

Will this shutter do the job?

These little shutters are brilliant. I got a few of them to use in various laser projects. The seller is a well known member on the Holography Forum and can be trusted.

    Cheers

i'd consider enclosing the galvos in a dust sealed enclosure. If you're going to dump that much air through the optics as indicated by those fans, you might find yourself having to clean the mirrors a little too often for them not to get scratched up very quickly...

I don't think the stp-8 is spring loaded, so no using that for a safety shutter...

The laser module was held up in customs, they opened the package to control.
The problem was the declared value.
They called me and said the value had to be alot more than $30
Finally after some back and fourth it seems to be ok.
Should receive the laser module tomorrow =)

    I have a question:
    How do I ground everything?
Do all ground go to the same spot?
Or just ground the case and ground everything to the case?

    ????????????????????????????????????????
    Should everything be grounded together?
    ILDA pin 25 ground (FB3)
    Y scanner amp Ground
    X scanner amp Ground
    Scanner powersupply 0V
    Scanner powersupply Ground (main inlet)
    Laser powersupply
    ????????????????????????????????????????
