Default Youtube hack for better quality viewing - &fmt=18

Just found this on YT and it works!

    Copy & paste this code:
&fmt=18 at the end of anything you watch on YT and it seems to enhance the sound and video quality.

    Cool

Damn, Jim - that's pretty cool!

I've always bitched about the lousy quality of the videos on Youtube. Thanks for sharing that little fix!

    Cool

It doesn't work on all videos. Some of them are lousy to begin with and they stay that way. Others get a noticeable improvement. You just have to experiment.

Likewise with the sound quality... I noticed one clip went from mono to stereo after I added the "&fmt=18" to the end.

Do you mean the small button, to the left of the 'full screen' button Andy?

If so then that only seems to make the screen size smaller??

I cannot see the link you talk of?

Hmmmm - That option is not always available though.

There is definitely a marked improvement on these two links and the first one doesn't show the "watch in high quality" link. BUT the second one shows a "watch in standard quality" link ? Strange

Anyway, it works and I use it
