Although the sticker price of $18,000 is enough to scare everyone but the government away, the technology is quite fascinating. This drive has the precision and tech to record high quality holograms into a spinning disc using a stabilized split beam holographic projection system and then read them back via transmission. Each hologram contains 1.48mb of data. Capacity tops out at 300GB on discs that will cost $180, so it can't complete with hdd storage, yet. Still, this tech has the capability of huge data density if it takes off.
