I saw that kit too. Without a light table, it would tough to get this running. From there though, I think you could put something cool put together. The LBO would allow pretty high damage threshold and a very bright light. I would like to hear from the successful bidder to know that they actually used the kit.

The same guy has another kit up now: http://cgi.ebay.com/ND-YAG-and-LBO-s...QQcmdZViewItem

I wish I was skilled enough to make a blue laser out of that.

Default about blue kits from lasertec Inc

hi, Dear all, now many people made from LBO+NdYAG crystal in blue laser application ,but the system conversion is lowly because the LBO crystal conversion efficecy is less than BIBO crystal, but the BIBO crystal damaged threshold is less than LBO, So if you want to get lowly blue laser ,you can made by BIBO+NdYAG, If you want to get high power blue laser ,you can made by LBO +NdYAG.
Now our company put on the blue assemble with BIBO +Nd:YAG, They have very well peformance, pump into 2W 808nm,can get 30mw blue laser.
If you are interesting in them please visit www.lcoptical.com, or mail to sales@lcoptical.com . I think you can get you want.
BTW: we also supply other noliner crystal and laser crystal (LBO,BBO,KTP,Nd:YVO4,Nd:YAG and other optical components.)
Lasertec designs, grows, manufactures, and supplies the highest quality crystal and precision optics products, lenses, coatings for laser application

Only 30mw out of 2000mw? Yikes! Is that typical of blue dpss lasers? That's only 1.5% efficiency.

I would say yes its typical - why do ya think blue is so expensive?
I believe Bridges 800mW blue has pump energy in the order of 20W which by my reckoning is around 4% - so pretty good by blue standards!

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

    Lasertec

Does the blue doubling crystal still require much better temperature control then KTP with green ?
