One question, why is the laser operating with the interlock dongle removed?

Eat Sleep Lase Repeat
Hey guys, things are good. Unfortunately my hobbies are taking me elsewhere until I can graduate and afford things like lasers again.
Ben, the reason the laser is operating is that the interlock cuts off the laser if the circuit is closed. So, having an open circuit will allow the laser to fire. Not quite how I design it, but it still works.
BTW I also have a Coherent Lasercheck on eBay:

Let me know if you have any other questions!
Ben & Boomdog;
Are you sure that's the interlock connector? Because it looks like the modulation input plug... (Sometimes they label it wrong.)
The supply on my original Lasever DPSS green bench laser looks just like that, and it uses the same 1/8 inch jack for the modulation input. If you ground the red wire, the laser turns off. If you disconnect it, it floats high and the laser operates at maximum power.
Assuming that your laser supports analog blanking, you should be able to apply a variable voltage to it and ramp the power up and down. (Just don't go beyond +5 volts.)
BTW - that's a pretty good price on that lasercheck, Boomdog. I'll bet someone will snap that right up.

It looks like a Lambda Pro in which case it would be a modulation connector.. I used to have one...

Hmm ya know you could be right, it wouldnt surprise me considering that the actual 4-pin is labeled "singnal." But to be honest I'm not really looking to test it out (unless any of you are potential buyers... =P); knowing me I'd release the magic smoke the day before selling it.
And yea, I've heard a lot of comparisons of this and the Lambda Pro; they're probably the same thing, just through a different reseller.
