As I am testing a low cost "import" yag laser for a friend, I needed a IR block, pass 532 filter for testing. While I could just reeach over in the optics box and get out a littrow prism, or do some ratiometric measuring tricks with a grating, or even just dig out a green pass dichro, I wanted something that could be done in a few seconds.

So I ordered a piece of Schott BG38 Glass from Ebay's OmegaBob aka the surplus division of Omega Optical.

10$ for the glass and 4$ for the shipping.

I am very happy and they included, as they do with all their filters, a transmission curve ran from the actual shipped filter, at 532, its got about 87% transmission, at 1064.... Well, zilch.

So now I have something we can stick in front of a power meter at SELEM etc.

money well spent. Very fast shipping.
