There are sine wave ripple effects in LaserBoy too. There is a frame effect called "tranz" that takes a 2D drawing and warps the crap out of it (mathematically speaking) with sine waves in multiple ways. It promotes a 2D image to 3D, so all of the effect is in Z; meaning, you can not see it if you are looking at it straight on from the front.
Check it out!
Look at frame 27 of in.ild. It looks like a flat spiral from the front. Spin it around. Press and hold
4 // rotate XYZ view
5 // set to front
Flatten this image.
h // frame transforms
1 // Flatten Z
Now it is a 2D spiral. Apply the tranz effect.
o // to create output
4 // frame effect
type tranz at the prompt.
Stare into the spiral! All you can see now is the color cycling. When it stops moving... wake up and open the file called tranz.ild.
i // file input
1 // ILDA
tranz // at the prompt
1 // replace the frame set
Rotate it a bit off axis so that you can see it is a flat disk in 3D and start the show.
` // show forward
You can also just hit
= // auto show & spin
and watch it flip around.
The more points there are to work on, the smoother it looks, so if you optimize the drawing before you apply the tranz effect it looks even better!
James.
