    Default 405nm 130mW at night

    Laser diode extracted from ggw-h20L installed in a custom kryton (kenom's group buy barrel) that has home-anodized. Laser is driven with a home-designed switchmode buck/boost current regulated driver 'flexdrive'.





    It's not a laser-show laser but it can put on a show of it's own!

    That looks really cool in a picture. I bet it looks even better for real.

    Do these work OK as a blue in an RGB system or are they too violet?

    In real life, the beam looks weaker because our eyes aren't as sensitive to 405nm as the camera ccd is. These rean't really apropriate for an RGB system first because the coatings aren't tuned for 405nm, and second because of the relative brightness. It would be like using 680nm for red. Still, the dot is impressive and fluorescence great to experiment with.

    Hello James,

    You can use this diode for a small RGB system, but only for graphic shows on white paper or someting, because paper has some fluorescent substances in it.

    Unfortunately, this diode will not work for beam shows, you cant see it

    I've never seen blue or violet SS lasers. But I have a bunch of LEDs that are all over the place between 480's to 385-ish. It's weird how different they look. I got a bag of 100 UVs from China and sorted them, in order, by eye, in my LED burn-in fixture. It's a stick almost a meter long that holds LEDs side-by-side with pin header sockets. I'll take a picture of it soon.
