    It's an interesting idea, using a vreg as an amp, but having used these things in realtime-variable supplies (for CPU core voltages in DVFS environments, hack fans), they're none too stable when you're changing things up on them. They're designed to be set to one voltage and stay there more or less forever. The LM1876 shouldn't have any such problems. :-)

    Yeah, that's why I went with the amp, but the v-reg showed surprising agility and stamina when the input leg was modulated at high speed with a heavy load.. And I endurence tested it for a couple of hours at that rate w/ no change. It was an interesting experiment. I may have continued if I hadnt needed bipolar for the galvos..
