Very nice! Where did you get the original animations from? Did you make them yourself?

All live motions are traced by me with TraceIT (source is usually youtube). All animations mixer/LP/ Cocktail and etc. are mine and it is 3ds max to Illustrate! to Laserboy DXF to ILDA converter.

Do you do them one frame at a time? How many frames are there in it?

Quckly here is how it's done.
Got a video of a .....(insert your favorite video hosting service here)... Make sure that video has solid color background. Dance lessons or video clips are fine. Best ones are from SNAP MC Hummer and more early 90s..there are many cool dancing routines against solid background. Convert FLV to MPEG/AVI import it into a Vitrualdub (Free). Export frames as a series of BMP. Virtual dub allows you to choose how many each frames. Every 2nd every 3rd every 10th...what ever you like. Import one frame into xnview(Free) start messing with brightness and contrast until you will get a solid figure against a solid background.....usually it's around -70 brightness and +127 contrast. Then you convert it to Bitmap without patterns. If everything looks ok do a batch conversion for all frames. Import a first frame to TraceIT. and do adjustment and then chain import the rest of images. Do noise killing (shift-f8) to eliminate frames with unnecessary lines. Save it as ILDA.
In reality it takes only couple of minutes. After you've done you will have a tooooooons of frames to work with. I will do tutorial on that as well as on 3ds max to Illustrate to Laserboy to ILDA.

    Looks good Doc!

Glad to see that someone is getting good use out of our TraceIT product.

By the way, did you notice, and ever play with the built-in image manipulation capabilities of TraceIT? It may be possible to do some of the contrast enhancements within TraceIT itself. And, if memory serves, TraceIT will also accept an AVI file as the source.

    Best regards,

    William Benner
