Optnext. I believe Mr. P1t8ull had a couple of samples of the optnexts.

I have bought 5 Mitsubishi ML520G51 diodes 150 mW 636 nm diodes, Steve.
    (Very expensive) :/

I have a couple of Opnext HL6385DG's (150mw/642nm) sitting here, haven't had a chance to plug them in yet. With 9/17 degs of divergence they should be a lot easier to tame than the equivalent Mitsi ML520G51's 7/40 degs.
Even with that spread, it sounds like steve-o has managed to get a usable beam from them with some persistence though.

I'll try and get one of the HL6385DG's running for the UKLEM in August

are they the same that are inside these ?

    http://www.medialas.de/showlaser/redlaser_e.htm

the divergence looks ok and the beam less than 3.5mm

but it seems its only a single diode @ 400mW

if its not the same ... anyone know what they are

Yes, I have tamed them down, but I dont know how much power I've lost..

This was in the tech specs:

    Adjustment
The laser optics comes preadjusted from factory. If, for any reason, you experience two dots
or double beam after distance, the optical mount needs to be slightly readjusted. This can be
done externally without opening the unit. For this adjustment, two hex wrench keys are necessary

Might indicate 2 diodes are used in the units. Wonder how much they ask for them. You have to fill out a personal info page to get a pricelist... :\

ahhhhh ... thanks steve ... i missed that

seeing that medialas do a 350 and 400 version ... it may be 2 Mitsu diodes pushed to their max..

just looked at the tech info ...... it says that 0v the output is off ... and at 4v output is on which implies that its TTL but the main page does
state its analogue modulation or it might mean that full brightness is achieved at 4v ?

    all the best ... Karl

Yeah, Karl, I noticed they say analogue mod. too, I didnt see the 4 volts though...that's is strange. I also didnt look for or see a MTTF figure... hmmm..

    OK,
    I just re-checked and-

    cheers Andy ....

thats quite a price ..... but they are quite comprehensive and are tec cooled .... so im guessing its a bit more than just a couple of diodes also if medialas are buying them in, everyone has to make their margin and you will get a decent warranty etc ...

but still a bit pricey for me

    all the best .. Karl
