You want damping for speed or just simple driver?

if you want damping and speed use:

    general scanning a102 circuit

if not,and looking for single supply driver with no ringing use a IR740 FET with a fet gate driver chip such as Texas Instruments TPS2811 , remember to put schottkey reverse diodes across the actuator and across the fet

Just a simple shutter control, nothing fancy.

so to take the ILDA shutter signal and drive the GM20 top open a beam.

That works, use a darlington and a big heatsink/

We also sometimes place about 20-40 ohms across the galvo for some damping, as well as the diode.

    cheers,\

I think it should too, I like to use the word should.

By the way, 1K is pretty low impedance... It would be better to use a higher impedance. A darlington allows you to do that.

I sent a hand drawing to Mike from MechEng3, who had good results with it. He posted a re-drawn version in another posting. Perhaps you can dig for it, or someone will re-post it.
