can IPA (isopropyl alcohol) be used safely to clean dichros and other optics?? is it too harsh??
i know there are special cleaning solutions out there. but i dont have any of them now and i need to clean...

Isopropyl leaves a residue. So, it doesn't seem like a good thing to do.

Pure IPA doesn't leave a residue. There are many different grades, you just have to get the best
I know it's slightly different but we produce ophthalmic lenses in our Lab (many with reflection free coatings) and we use nothing but IPA to clean them.
Possibly of more concern is the type of cloth (or other implement) that you're using.
