Default Reasonably urgent advise sort - 3000w

mmm im sure this cant be rignt but on the off chance i have stumbled on a gem, can any one advise re uesability of this for use in entertainment style laser. looks like med laser that may need conversion, i do not have low level electronics skills but would pay to have conversion done is i ended up with mega toy at the end of project.

http://www.graysonline.com/Lot.aspx?id=3875870 i have a contact in sydney who can pick it up however shipping interstate may be semi pricey.

    any advise sort

That would be a pulsed laser with (probably) a non-visible wavelength

(also, a 3000W laser is not a 'toy')

Yes realise 3000w is not a toy,

Wanting to know if this can be converted into some thing not pulsed but run constantly at lower wattage, and in hte visible spectrum, unfortunatly i do not have skill to identify potential of equipment, price certainly seems good im thinking transport even with in Sydney may be $1000.00 to move safley

Erm - has anyone not twigged that this is not a 3kW laser?
    16A @ 240V is 3.84kW.
Unless anyone has invented a 3kW 78% wall plug efficiency laser in the last week.
    /end sarchasm.
    However....
Googling says it is a copper vapor (so no chance of non-pulsed operation)
Also it appears to be rated for 40W out

Lasers and beer don't mix. After 2 beers I lose coherence.

It's like $5 a liter, no big deal.

I have opted to bid on http://www.graysonline.com/Lot.aspx?id=3870497 and a 17" LCD touch screen which wil lcomin handy for my ighting controller.

I wish i was on site down there as i would have picked up a bunch of other stuff, there seems to be a lot of interesting occiliscopes, multimeters and power supplies other test equipment up for grabs.

I will let you know how i fared.

Actually, in Australia it's quite difficult. Unless he takes out a very expensive annual contract with e.g. BOC gases, it's unlikely he can source neon at all. Even if you owned your own cylinder, there is nobody who will fill it for you.

Hmmm perhaps I could get this stored at my grandparents and then shipped to new zealand - but... neon would be a real biaaartch to get hold of.

    So close yet so far...
