A lot of the chinese lasers have built in shows/graphics that can be triggered via the DMX signal, most are not very good. But it is an easy way to control the laser, it should allow selection of scene, zoom level, flipping the display on either or both X/Y axis plus a few over things. Really does depend what is implemented.
It does mean if you are doing a light show with lasers and other DMX controleld lights you only need 1 computer to do both via a DMX console program.
Another method is that there is an intermediate interface box that can be controlled by DMX, I have one and I can store shows on an SD card in the box and then call them back via DMX.

You realy need to get a manual for that laser to find out how many DMX channels it uses and what each one does.

OK have found picture and some basic details, always seems to be in french, can't find a manual yet.

The XLR/DMX on this box is used to control movement of a moving-head laser with the iTop software, which you dont have (thats why its called motor-head).

Just connect the ILDA and leave the DMX part aside.

Different story is, if you use a e.g DMX Controller or software to control you laser. Then, you connect that controller to the DMX port of your projector, but then ILDA isnt used.

Depends on what you want to do. If you want to use the iTop soft, then just connect ILDA.
