    Default Pangolin FB3 scan angles

When I run my projectors in DMX mode, the scan angle is substantially bigger than the FB3 supports, even with the sizes maxed out. Further, there is remarkably little vertical / horizontal play - if I try to move a projection zone down or up it just ends up being squashed. This happens on two projectors made by different companies. My engineer's attempts to adjust the scanners using the internal pots make a small difference, but not much. Is this expected behaviour? I have DT-30 scanners in my projectors, if that makes a difference.

It was bought this year. It's the SE version.

I suspect it doesn't have the diff board, come to think of it. That'll be my problem However a search yields a post from Bill@Pango saying "don't use diff with Chinese scanners". D'oh.

not 100% what your problem is, just thought that it could be some useful info for others to help.

Suggest you contact Pangolin directly using the contact form on their website. They're quite good at responding to customer requests. Once they've helped you track down the problem, please report back here!

DT30s will work just fine with diff - but you need to be sure they are wired up correctly

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

Are you trying to move it at full size?
You can't move an image about in a projection zone when it's 100% size without squashing it... You have to reduce the size of the image and then move it about...

I find in most larger venue's that you don't need to scan at full size...

    Er...yes

Idea was to have a "atmospheric beams" zone above heads and a separate zone pointing down towards the stage to catch the band (without going near the audience).

It was the zone I was trying to move. I guess the guide graphic is still an image though

Yep, and if that image fills the projection zone, you can't move it without squashing something

i had the exact same problem with my scan angle, being too small, on my FB3-SE.
i installed the optional diff. board, to correct/ increase the size.
