Default Cigarette Case-sized Projector Using Lasers

This is really something. I know of RGB lasers that can do pretty good raster-images, but the size of this thing is incredibly small.

I'm not yet familiar with these "semiconductor" lasers yet either..

    Thumbs up

That is pretty nifty. Kinda makes my projector look bulky...

Wouldn't you think it would be a bad idea to give a presentation in front of one of those things? ya know.... lasers shining in your eyes and all :-/

    Really cool though!

In a situation like that, I don't think it would be any worse than any other high intensity light source.

I bet it isn't as bright as it might seem.

    Wow, bye bye DPSS

The new projector used the semiconductor laser for the green laser light source, instead of the diode pumping solid state (DPSS) laser, which was used in the previous prototype.

This is one of the projects I am doing at MS,
The MEM's units are very cool,we are just having issues with curvatures.
You can see a little flicker but it is not bad.

    Question Dark-projecting laser? Daser?

    I call bullshit!

Look at the picture. There are areas of the image (the rocks on the right) that are DARKER than the screen it's being displayed on. That's friggin' impossible, unless they've invented a laser that can project DARK...

I don't doubt that they are working on display devices like this, and they may have a working prototype by now. They may even have a working prototype that is the same size as the one in the picture. But there's something fishy (pardon the pun) about that image.
