I wouldn't , Anything from 1986 is just a little too old for me. If you could get it for 50.00 yes but try talking the guy down a bit. Even then who knows if the tube is any good or PS. See if you can have the guy fire it up for you !!
" MANUFACTURER OF HIGH QUALITY MICRO LASER COMPONENTS" !!

I'd say go for it !!!
it's a coherent innova-type long argon tube
plus it is an ophtalmic system, so you might have low hours on low power use
if you happen to be able to check the tube yourself, that might be a win!
psu, tube, gas bottle, etc... I'd be near that beast I'd try to get it
but be sure the tube is intact
EDIT: long tubes like that one, even from end of the 80's or early 90's, when properly reworked, are worth more than $5000 in the scientific equipment surplus
its a laser ionics head.
Does like 13 watts when they work, but it is a tungsten disk quartz and glass tube. VERY fragile, and there is glass underneath the laser for the fill system. The glassblower litterally made the tube around the resonator, they are not removable. Get the excellent coherent fieldmaster power meter that is attached to the system. The attached tank is nitrogen. It fires into a cheap fiber mount. The power supply is a monster SCR based switcher.
But that laser has to haul air ride, lifted by hand, or the glass breaks,. DO NOT SHIP IT ON THAT CART.

It is a laser ionics 50XX series

If you go after it, take a pickup truck and a sheet of plywood and some strapping, the black part of the laser setting on the red cart frame has exposed glass in its bottom.
