Ok, I am set to recieve my FXLAB Pulse 2 laser (80mW red) today and I am thinking that when I am done messing with it in a few weeks, i will be wanting to modify its operation.
I was considering puting in one of those 150mW Blu-ray diodes that are available on ebay from Korea (or Blu-rry as the chaps at my local Richer Sounds call it) and run it straigh off the wires from the old diode.
Could I simply whip out the old 80mW red diode and drop in the new Blu-ray one? I know that it will take a bit of time to get the optics aligned, but I do like the pretty colour
Is this a bad idea?
I know that the diode I was looking at comes with a driver board. Is that so that the power going into the diode is electrically stable? (forgive my lack of understanding here, I'm not so electically in the know :-) But I can usually work things out when I want to.
Thanks,
James

higher current shortens the lifetime, but gives you brighter output (but im sure you already know this
you are the one
but have you gotten 150mw? How many have you done and what has been your average? My average is about 80 to 90 mw
