    Default 405 nm diode

where do I get a 405 nm diode without getting ripped off?
(or better yet a 412 nm one?)

I'm interested in one, too. Do I have to rip apart some sort of dvd part and or is it ready to plug into a regulated power supply?

i picked one up from drew last week, it arrived yesterday, the entire sled (so you no you don't need to rip apart a dvd drive). I still need to pop the diode mount from the drive sled (it is glued), and then liberate the diode from the heat-sync. I think he will send the liberated diode for $2 more. I still need to build a diode mount and heat-sync, I will be using the optics from an aixiz module after tapping the aluminum (copying another PL'ers design). I have to say after ripping apart an hd-dvd drive to get my last diode $12 is a steal. Now I just need to get a lava drive 1 so I can modulate the new one (or a schematic for analog modulation).

drlava has the best drivers for lower voltages. not sure if rkcstr is a member here but he has very nice drivers too. you can build daedals circuit if you want a DIY solution. those can be built for under 5$.

i just sell the sleds themselves. if you pay 2$ extra i remove the diodes heatsink and pcb, if you purchase an aixiz module with the 2$ fee added in the sled comes harvested and press fitted in the module with leads attached.

I have collimators and drivers. I need a diode. Do they come in 5.6 mm cans or some other mount? any pictures? 12+2 seems reasonable enough.
