are you refering to actually projecting a full resolution (or close) copy of a photo?? or just an outline?

if its an actual reprodcuton, you are looking at SERIOUS laser equipment for that. and in the 10's of thousand of dollars range if not more. (im assuming)

check out raster image projection from pangolin.

if its just an outline youre talking about, thats much easier. use a program like trace it. or full auto. there are probably more out there, but those are off of the top of my head. i think the shareware ones developed by our users here can do BMP projections.

If you mean like this, that ministry do:

The I think you'll find its a DLP projection onto a waterscreen with laser scans (not captured in that frame) used to trace the outline to give the impression thats its being laser drawn when in fact its projected.

As gottaluvlasers said, most pure lasers are restricted to essentially outlines.

full color laser projection can be done with a Acousto optical RGB projector. It uses 2 specially build AOMs for X and Y. It has 3 channels.. R G and B. Allows up to 320X240 resolution. Unfortunately scan angle is just about 5 degrees so you need a telescope and some good distance.
I hired an Italian guy to do my wires. Now they look like spaghetti!

PS: I believe I was the one that first coined the term "Lasergasm"... You can hear it in Aaron's video right at the end of the Star Wars beamshow.
