Default Laserboy DAC connecting to DMX board

    hi everyone!
ive been speaking to james lehman alot, most probably anoying him too much!
but finnaly i have a working LaserBoy DAC and scanpro20s.

but i dont know how to connect the laserboy amo to the scanpro DMX board???

origionally i connected it to the + lead on the scanner amps (wire which come from the standard DMX) to the outputs on the modded soundcard!. but im sure this isnt the propper way to do it. and its bad swaping wires round each time i would like to use sound activated mode!!!!

i need to know ift the laserboy can be connected to the ilda port on the DMX, and what is the pinout.

if anyone has any information or diagrams to share it would be greatly appreciated!

    thank you!

He is saying, that the scanpro20's have a DMX board, that have ILDA inputs and thru's on them. He wants to know how to hook up the amp to the ILDA connector

All the clues are here. Use a meter!!! There is no "one answer" that I can give you. It's your projector.

I have tried wiring up my LaserBoy DAC to the ILDA port, But it does not seem to work. How did you connect the LB Dac to your scanner amps?

    The Scanner Amp Input has ( "+" / "GND" / "-" ) and i am unsure if you can connect it to "+" & "-" pins or "+" & "GND" ?

prehaps its something to do with the dip switches aswell!
    what pinout did u use???

the only way i know to connect it up. is to disconnect the 3 wires from the DMX-AMP, but leave the ground connected! then connect the laserboy outputs to the +wire, let the - wire hang!

I think I'm starting to understand why you are having difficulty. You don't have an ILDA port!

Please take some pictures of what you have so we can all see it and identify the various parts.

If you can scan any image at all, even with nothing more than the DMX board, then you should have everything you need to hook up the LaserBoy Correction Amp.

Don't ruin anything you have, taking it apart. You will need to measure voltages and stuff coming from the DMX controller to set your correction amp to match.

James, The ScanPro20's come with a controller board that is refered to as a DMX board, It is a basic controller that has Sound-Activate Mode on it, And a few built in Frames for use with DMX, the Board has DMX in/out and ILDA in/out aswell as 3xTTL Laser Outputs. The ILDA in/out have ribbons to DB25 socket/plug. I have wired up mine to the ILDA in, but no look. I have the Laserboy DAC wired to DB25 as ILDA Standard Pinouts.

I think I see the problem.

    1 X
    2 Y
    3 Z (not used)

    5 R
    6 G
    7 B

    14 GND
    15 GND
    16 (not used)

    18 GND
    19 GND
    20 GND
    25 GND

If this is a true ILDA port then it is also required that you tie pins 4 & 17 together as a safety interlock and you should also have +5VDC on pin 13 to open the shutter.

The LaserBoy Correction Amp is totally single ended. There is nothing differential about its inputs or outputs. All grounds are exactly the same. The +5VDC to open the shutter should come from the +5VDC USB power.

Please look this information up somewhere else and confirm it. My projector is not compliant with this spec!!!

Other than this, have you gone through the LaserBoy Correction Amp trimmer tweaking process? Do you know that this setup will produce an inverted wave?
