I've tried a few times to email the 'Doc', but they're all being bounced back as undeliverable. The next step will be for me to to drop him a letter, i'd just like to know he's o.k.

I asked about him not too far back. LaserBoy said he has been sighted on alt.lasers. That was at least a few months back, though.

I did notice in a fleabay auction of his recently he mentioned he was "giving up my laser hobby to focus on electronics and music"
