I don't think he was disputing that only pointing out that sometimes a steeper angle works better. I agree they should be designed to work at a 45° optimum angle though.

Ahhh... You have such a delicate way with words Pat

No offence taken at all, and I know what you're getting at. I was merely pointing out (for those who weren't aware) that angle tuning can improve things somewhat .

Interestingly, even the custom 'Semrock' dichro, which is supposedly a top notch piece of kit (and custom made for us), requires angle tuning to get the best out of it.

Once I get myself a new camera i'll post some pictures of my projector re-build that Rob (Stanwax) did for me. You'll see from the pictures that some strange angles are employed to get the best out of the dichro's.

    Cheers

    Hi Marc,

Would you be so kind to test again with 45 degrees.

Myself in multiple projectors and many other people got way different results at 45 degrees!

I think the Laserwave dichros got a good price/quality ratio and a nice mount.

But they are definitely not the best dichro's, if you are looking for high quality dichro's with low losses I would look further, I know I will for my next RGB build.

You can also read in Insanity's "monster" RGB tread how big the losses are.

    For quality dichro's try:
    Pritzler
    Swislass
    Kvant

    But expect to pay more...

Me too, I have at least 15% less red after that dichro

You can still try to limit the loss by turning a little the dichro, so it will make a more perpendicular angle to the incoming red beam.

Hi Marc, did you had a chance to test at exactly 45 degrees?

As you can read in this post I have 15% loss of red trough the blue dichro.
