im sorry but ill have to agree with and support the taser weapon!

i am in the process of getting my concealed weapons permit. (handgun). I am also purchasing a taser. i'll be honest with you, it scares the shit outta me to have a gun! i respect them. i enjoy shooting them for sport. i believe in the RESPONSIBLE AND LEGITIMITE use of force. HOWEVER, the fact of the matter is, they are deadly weapons! and a last resort!

but, in todays world, no matter where you live, how "rural" you think you are located, VERY BAD THINGS happen! and if im confronted with a, "me, my family, or YOU- the bad guy" scenario...im tellin you RIGHT now, it AINT gonna be me or my family!!

i believe, in todays world WAAAYYY too much "finger pointing" and sueing is going on. Nobody seems to look at the ROOT OF THE PROBLEMS anymore!

i heard a few stories of people being tasered and having heart attacks. but have you heard the ENTIRE story?? (not ALL of them. a FEW of them) there was an incident in, crap, i *THINK* it was new york...(ill try to find some info on it)...about a year or so ago about a young guy, around 18-20 being tasered and had a heart attack and died.

the media picked up the story and told you JUST THAT PART OF IT!!! lol...

what they DIDNT tell you, was that 3.5 hours PRIOR to the tasering and heart attack the suspect beat his X girlfriend to a pulp. nearly killed their child who was 3 years old by hitting him with a wiffle ball bat 29 times because he wouldnt go to sleep. stole a car at gun point. caused 2 accidents while being pursued (1 accident had a child (dont remember the age) in the car ejected from the vehicle) and when the police finally got him, he proceeded to punch 2 cops, stabbed one in the face with a pen and when he wouldnt surrender after over 5 minutes of officers with guns drawn on him. THEN the decision was made to taser him. and woops, he had a heart attack and died!!!

WHERE'S THE PROBLEM??? the FU*KER got what he deserved! excpet it happened too fast!!!

if it were me and i caught him...TRUST me, it wouldnt have been a taser...it woulda been a few bullets to each of his knee caps with his kid pullin the trigger and his X pullin the other trigger!!

300 cases a year of heart attacks or deaths?? ok, out of those, how many of those people were in a situation they shouldnt have been in?? people dont get tased because someone is in a badd mood. they get tased becasue they are breaking the law!!! DONT BREAK THE LAW. DONT RESIST ARREST IF YOU *DO* BREAK THE LAW and you wont have to worry about being tased and possibly having a heart attack!

people have more heart attacks and injuries a year from sex, and from taking aspirin and from blowing up balloons than from being tasered. Yet....no one is complaining about sueing ballon companies. sueing your sexual partner for having sex. or from making tyelenol illegal. why not??

if people started being responsible for their actions, then i think the world would be a little bit better of a place. if people stopped BLAMING EVERYBODY ELSE EXCEPT THE PERSON WHO SHOULD BE BLAMED for problems, then we just may find ourselves in a little bit of a better world.

Go reread my post! A NON COMPUS MENTUS INMATE WHILE RESTRAINED BY 5 OFFICERS HERE WAS TASERED AND HAD A LITRE OR MORE OF PEPPER SPRAY FORCED ON HIM< INCLUDING INTO HIS THROAT AND LUNGS. WHILE RESTRAINED? WHY WOULD YOU USE A TASER ON A RESTRAINED INMATE?

The first kid who died locally was on E with a weak heart?, but that justifies a death sentance from a overpowered stun gun from a officer who admitted she was in NO immediate danger and tasered him to induce compliance before her backup arrived? The kid was walking through a farm field at the time and someody called to report his strange activity. s ? Lighten up, or better yet let somebody tase you with your new toy as part of the learning experience. MOst departments require that BTW. I used to work at a electronics shop who sold those,and the owner thought nothing of selling cattle prods (cow tasers have huge pulses that would burn you!) for use on humans. He hit me on the back of the neck for fun with a 4 D cell battery powered 100KV model. I was down for 4 minutes and weak for half a day! YOu have to draw the line somewhere. It is time in this country to addess the educational and economic issues that make drug use so popular with lower or lowest class young kids who need some form of escape, either drugs or crime. Might start with requiring a license to have children.BTW, I'm to the right of a neocon, and I wrote that. Too many young people live unsupervised lives with uncaring parents or parents who have to work two jobs, Curing that would reduce crime tenfold.

I tought inner city high school for a while, and had to walk into a tough building unarmed and unescorted every day. That takes a heck of a lot more balls and human relations skills then having a bulge in my jacket. Those kids had a higher incidence of depression then a russian KGB mental ward. Why? Nobody cared the least about them and they had no place to learn hope, love, or most base morals for that matter.That could be fixed.Those kids expected to have no rights in any dealings with the cops and to have the $hit kicked out of them just for walking down the street!!. Is that your idea of a USA? We should turn force inwards on our own only using it as a last resort.

If we follow your logic , it reminds me of a episode of the sci fi show Red Dwarf, where a secret police guy is chasing a sweet little 7 year old blond girl through a city with bursts from a mac-10 , the red dwarf crew stops him, and then they ask him why? "She stole a apple of the people". Think about what you wrote in that post before you open fire on somebody who knocks on your door for help at night.

For some people, tasers are deadly when misused or over powered. You use the same setting even if its a 50 pound sopping wet kid your stunning, or a 300 pound man. It has unlimited retrigger once someone is on the ground. There is a problem there. Your logic would get you a death sentance for speeding in a school zone after hours, without a trial. There is a strong tie between low socio-economic status , young age, drug use, and lethal/nonlethal force deaths.
We dont give 17 year olds cardiograms, so they are equally vunerable to playing basketball and football. We have two-three kids a year around here die on the ballfield to the same heart failure the taser can trigger. So much for 99.99% nonlethal.

Granted now, if some bastard breaks into my home hes gonna face a bullet. But then and only then, I'm not gonna carry in public unless there is a known threat on the threat board. Better to avoid the fight altogether.

I have a job interview at a non-lethal weapons company next week. You would not belive what they had me read before I consider signing on, one heck of a morals education. Taser needs to be replaced by something safer,and law enforcement knows it!

Rubber bullets, flash-bang devices and high-frequency piezo acoustic directional weapons would be 3 non-leathal (non-electrical contact / non-heart-attack inducing) alternatives that I can think of right off hand.

--Or a short-range flame thrower I think that would be enough to back anybody off, even a drugged-out, psychopathic out of control prison inmate or such. Nobody wants to get burned..

--Or a de-focused laser, not enough to burn the retinas, but enough to cause temporary blindness with no permanent damage.
One time I went to a Blue Oyster Cult concert where they had some devices hung up center stage that when ignited there was such a flash that I couldnt see a thing for 15-20 seconds, and then my vision returned to normal-- kinda scary and disorienting for a bit --

The problem I see with tasers, is that the stupid cops that carry them will use them on anybody with very little reason. Its almost as if they cant be bothered to get their porky little hands dirty.

How about we just stick to HV for tasers, why generate plasma with the laser when you can just burn them anyway?
