There rea a few people that can now. DZ, daedal, I think someone else but can't remember... There might even be someone willing to offer an inexpensive driver upgrade.

Hey, you seen your old case?

Hey jsalopeck, yeah I can replace the diode in the maxymod with one of the open can diodes. I tried to find how to change the current from the driver in the maxy, but haven't figured it out yet. With just dropping in a replacement open can diode, it does about 170mW. I can replace the diode for $12.50 plus shipping ($12.50 is the cost of the replacement diode from ndrew here on PL)

Yes. It will perform the same as your original did. The beam specs will be very close as well. The only difference is that the power will be *slightly* lower. (About 30 mw, on average.)
