Cool! Seems like you could put a big turbine over that thing and create enough electricity to power a small town

It's a shame they can't turn this whole thing into some sort of geo-thermal heat generator to make steam to make electricity.
I wonder what effect this little piece of land plays on the whole weather picture for the surrounding areas.

No, the headquarters of the CIA, where 9/11 was planned, the war in Iraq was invented and where they create tropical storms
Centralia is the place where Obama lives...

There isn't a direct connection to the films per se- but silent hill was themed around the same type of idea- abandoned mining town with coal fire beneath-
House of wax- although morbid -abandoned town also-
of course no scientific or real world corellation - just based on the premise-
Yes, Steve-O - Been busy, but still check in from time to time-

to quote: "This place in Uzbekistan is called by locals "The Door to Hell". It is situated near the small town of Darvaz. The story of this place lasts already for 35 years. Once the geologists were drilling for gas.. Then suddenly during the drilling they have found an underground cavern, it was so big that all the drilling site with all the equipment and camps got deep deep under the ground. None dared to go down there because the cavern was filled with gas. So they ignited it so that no poisonous gas could come out of the hole, and since then, it's burning, already for 35 years without any pause. Nobody knows how many tons of excellent gas has been burned for all those years but it just seems to be infinite there."

Yeah I was thinking that too. Same principle as a nuclear power plant except subtitute the heat from that hole instead of uranium rods. It's a shame they can't turn this whole thing into some sort of geo-thermal heat generator to make steam to make electricity.
Wow...I also didnt realize that those things are happening. I even found there is a 'burning hill' in Germany, burning since 1668...
