    Default Mirror Adjustments maybe?

    Hi Gang

here is some pics of my new RGB laser - some of them dont come out to well tho sorry about that!

    http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/majorl...ewLaserPhotos#

having issues with some of the colours and i think its due to the green being out of line (no cyan and no white)

also i'm a little worried my blue is not performing well i took some of that one also - it looks grainy on the wall but the beam is ok

sorry i could not post more pictures but my damn camera ran out of juice and cant find my charger atm lol!!

so do i search on here how to adjust the mirrors?

your pics arent showing up on the post, but i looked at the link you gave. looks to me like you need to align. looks like i see some red outline outside of the green in pic #4.

if your dichros are not PERFECTLY lined up. near filed AND far field...then you are going to lose 80% of your colors and "vibrancy."

can you get pics of your beams lined up on the dichros?? i will post some dichro shots of my alignments so you can see...

    Hi Majorlee;

I can't see the pictures you posted either, so I don't know what the inside of your projector looks like. However, Marc (gottaluvlasers) is correct: if you near field *or* your far field alignment is off, you will not get the beautiful color blending that you're looking for.

Near field alignment is how the beams align at the dichro, while far field is how the beams align when they're on the wall, far away from the projector.

Near field alignment is normally adjusted by changing the height of the lasers and/or moving the dichro from side to side on the baseplate. The goal is to have the beams overlap perfectly at the face of the dichro. You want the reflected beam to bounce off the dichro right in the center of the spot where the transmitted beam is coming out of the dichro.

Far field alignment is adjusted by "tipping" the dichro itself. This is accomplished by turning the adjustment screws on the dichro mount. One screw will move the beam left and right, while the other will move it up and down. By adjusting the angle of the dicrho in the mount, you can move the reflected beam so that it overlaps the transmitted beam perfectly. (Note that you need to be looking at the spots on the wall - far away from the projector - to get this adjustment correct. Also, you need to have the near field alignment adjusted FIRST.)

If you can post some more pictures of the inside of your projector, I'm sure we can show you where you need to make your adjustments. However, I'll be out of town (without Internet access) for the next week and a half or so. Surely someone here will be able to help you in the mean time. I also suggest you have a look at the alignment tutorial that Rob (Stanwax) posted last year. It explains the process quite well.

    thanx for the advice guys

here is my latest pictures but they aint to great - some real bad sorry

    http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/majorleeblunt/LaserPhotos#

so i have a different design to the one in the pdf, does it make much difference???

ALSO i have this whopping red beam shooting vertically out of the scanners, which i understand is that fat baby 635nm after doing some reading on here - is this normal? maybe its on purpose so they get a thinner beam?

i still think that it is the green which is out tho, maybe i will brave it!

PS any tips of safety wear? just reading post about the eye damage!

pictures didnt work... but no your red shouldnt come straight up off the scanners.

either the red is poorly aligned or the mirrors are to small or a mix of both

and goggles are a good idea.. i will send you a pm

after pic #23 it looks like your WAAAY out of alignment. it is hard to tell though. pics are blurry.

do the dichros have adjustments on them??

    Quick Update....

    hopefully better pictures

    http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/majorl.../LaserPhotos2#

i took out some metal guards to give me better access with the camera

i will also descibe what I AM seeing here too...

1st green laser comes out and hits the top of the mirror and then hits high on the 2nd dichro/mirror where it meets the red skimming the top of the fat red beam (but certainly not in the middle)

on the third dichro/mirror the red is lowest then blue then green just above

this in turn goes onto the scanners quite well and because of the alignment some of the red gets cut off by being missed on the Y (i think, one above) scanner giving a thinner line which is same thinkness as the other lasers

    http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/majorl...88348656254242

I can see what they are doing here but i'm a bit lost of how to procede!!!

also taking pictures and examining the mirrors/dichro's it seems that there not very good quality (but i can't be sure but looking at another projector on here they look crappy compared! http://img147.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p5010065ev4.jpg ) and i'm very unsure on how to adjust them properly

ALSO just to note - i like the way the (sarcasm) Laserworld or Manufacture has Black Inked the information on the Lasers - does not bode well in my books for sure, did some research on the model numbers and it seems they are CNI, but i could be wrong!

OK so after a few adjustments and removing a metal plate underneath the green laser i have lowered the height of the green into a more central position on the first mirror

had some bad problems trying to adjust the dicros since the screws on some were very hard to turn as they did not pretude much (the blue was impossible to move on the y axis)

laserworld did send me an email saying i needed to use a special screwdriver, he called it a imbus, but i cannot seem to find anything? anyone else know?

also i got a reply about the power output after querying bout the blue and he (dirk) said my unit had a total power output of 832mW when tested, so this is why i want to get a power meter just to see if he is be honest or telling porkies

but.... it seems to be aligned up now wth good colour mix over all the axis and rotations on a close range tho (tested on 2m/4m and 6m ranges) maybe i need to find somewhere i can test it on longer distances too

phewwww lots of work i did not expect here, but in a way its good since i have had to read lots to get to know how everything works now positive things in everything hehe

    congrats rich.

i was getting nervous looking at your previous post and pics. the dichros were WAAAAAYYYYYY out of alignment. but looks like you said you seemed to have gotten it down better.

what i would suggest is maybe new mounts for the dichros right now. if you cant really get them adjusted down well, a new set of adjustable mounts will solve 99.9% of your problems i think.

    just a suggestion.
