Question Any intetest in 635nm diodes?

I may want to put together a GB on a few diodes if there is enough interest. I would like to get a few more and I {WE} could possibly get a discount...more so than shipping in one tray. Let me know...they are C mounts and are all over spec from what I have tested of 4 in use. The raw output is always above 220mw, but is spec'd at 200mw and all have individual test sheets from the manu. They are NIB. They do NOT have a FAC lens installed. I have made a fixture to align the diode to the lens material and fix it in place with UV adhesive. This is not for the faint of heart or first time try at it. I had to learn though. Cost me a diode. I am not going to install lenses. It is a real booger to say the least about it. There are many other options to collimate much easier. I am simply trying to get a good deal on a few more and to help PL only. Lets just see who is a die hard right now.....that would include someone that is willing to build a driver for it and make a mount and lens assembly or just implement it into a broken or dead laser housing. They will survive w/o a TEC, but it makes them much more stable and highly suggest using one. Single mode with a 150um stripe width.

Um... I'd love to be able to slip one into the dead maxyzmodule I have... but would probably need to contract that actual work out.

It won't fit in there....just not enough room. I have some 200mw 660's here somewhere....that would be a better choice for it. Just adjust the drive current for the new diode and you should be fine with it. You could swap the diode out pretty easy....let me know if you get into a jam on figuring out the driver....

I'd be interested for the right price but why C mount? I can't get anyone to machine anything for me around here and I'd need some way to properly interface them with a collimator.

I might be interested if some sort of "kit" were available, since I have no idea what a "C mount" is or how to even begin to figure out a custom driver circuit for one of these!

But, I'd willing to learn, provided there's some good "tutoring" here on PL, and Buffo's group buy for the dichros goes through!!

When it comes to diodes, you know, I'm a noob. I would like a nice analog red that is safe for me to have.

OK here is the lowdown on the best 635's I have seen. 200mw units are 150. The 300mw units are 225. I also have a source for mounts that are gold plated and are predrilled for a thermistor and are 90 deg angled plates. I will include priority mail shipment and a new thermistor {10K Neg temp coef}. This should make for a good deal for all of us. Would like to place an order somewhere near next friday if possible. There are very nice driver kits already available here from members of PL. I have 3 or 4 of most of them and can assure you of their great performance. You just need to be a little creative and pull from your resourses and decide if you want to chase the red dragon. Here is a pic of one of the 200's doing it's thing. I have only installed a FAC lens and a ashro to get a beam. Not the best but a good starting point. Probably better with a F-theta and a nice A/R coated final. This one is doing 240 at 1.5 amps....not bad. Wavelength at 18 deg C is 629.4nm. More testing to follow after serious collimation testing.
