Default Google chrome is freakin me out!

Well, today I went to download a mp3. My max theoretical download speed is 160KB/s, BUT, the mp3 download finished in like 2 seconds, and the mp3 came out fine!!!!

I also tried downloading windows media player 11, and it was going at 500KB/s!!!!!

    WTF!

Is Google chrome speeding up my downloads somehow?!?!?!!?!

i havent used it yet but if the mp3 was a rather large one, i suspect that chrome downloads links before you click them while your browser is idle so you wont notice the lag and when / if you click the link then it blazes through it, if not it just deletes it out of cache. Thats my guess and if so, smart idea on their part

Nope, cause I doubt a 3.7mb mp3 would download in 2 seconds on my 160KB/s down connection :/

Yep, I'll second that, Chrome is wierd. Tried to open a 3mb PDF in Mozilla and it crashed x3 at .7ish mb. Tried it with chrome and it opened, down loaded and saved in about 5 secs!

I've not used Google Chrome but I have had similar experiences myself.

Maybe some internet providers are experimenting with the line limits by opening up the lines temporarily at times to see what capacity is available.

Several times I've had imposible speeds.

Just recently I downloaded a 148mb file in 3-4 seconds!!! My recorded download speed was showing as 46mb/sec!!!!! I only have an 8mb line which equates to around 400kbs/sec at best.

I've had similar MB speeds with other files recently as well.

Whats more, all the files were perfectly whole and ran ok (they were videos).

    Hmm weird.

Though I dont know why all the ISP's around the world, would all be opening the lines, at around the same time. This never happen with FF or IE

On another forum, I saw someone say "Oh, Google chrome has the "Hack your ISP and upgrade your plan" feature enabled by default"

That made me laugh hard for a while
