Default How to mount one way mirrors?

    Heya

I recently got my new one way mirrors and mounts. The one way mirrors ar'nt mounted in there
mountings. So wondering if any one here has any suggestions as to what to use. I see to recall
someone mentioning using a two pack glue? Also do the mirrors need to be orentated in any way.

    Cheers

There's no such thing as a one-way mirror.

Do you mean front surface mirror ?

Or are you talking about a Dichroic filter ? I suppose this could be kinda a "one way mirror"

    Cheers,

a good way to glue mirrors is to take a sliced piece of poly plastic coffee cup, and then put a drop of trycholrethylene on the mount, put the plastic on it, let it melt softly, and put the mirror on the melted plastic

when it dries, no depots, no defaults, and rock solid

it is a good solution for definitive mounting though, not for a further disassembly

Thank for not being anal about it's name, i'm fairly new to the laser game and try to
only use words i can understand. I brought two mixing mirrors, to mix the three diode
beams with. My blue diode should be here in a matter of days so i'm starting my lasers
first 'rebuild'. My supplyer assures me these are the "best mirrors in china". The two mirrors
are different from each other. I had a play with them last night when i couldn't sleep.

I hope this image helps, i could try to get a better image if it's still not clear?
I'm just not sure what to use to attach them to the mounts which are pictured above them?

    Cheers

    they are dichroic mirrors

they reflect some wavelengths and transmit other wavelengths

usually, the color you see is the mix of the reflected colours, so if your mirror is magenta-coloured, it is a reflect blue, reflect red, pass green dichroic mirror

you can use three drops of two-component epoxy glue disposed in triangle shape to mount the mirrors, or any mounting glue which is strong enough not to move with vibrations, but doesn't emit vapours like cyanoacrylate glues or the like, which would make a white depot on your mirrors when drying

    heya Shrad,

thanks for your help, yeah, i think the 2 pack might be the way to go for me.

is the coating the same on both sides?

are they polarised? if so do i need to orientate them?

    cheers

well , a friend took pity on me and brought me some araldite, i'd have a go at doing it now but i'm to drunk to use a syringe and i'd only cover everything in glue.

On a more positive note my blue diode is apprently turning up tomorrow.

Man, i'm so excited i don't know if i'll be able to sleep

i'm still wondering if the dicromic filter thingys are polarised?

    cheers
