    Default Combining The blue´s :*

    Hello ppl.

Big Aluminium plate arrived today so finally i can start aligning the first 4x405nm diodes. (out of 24)

I bought some nice Cooling Wings from " www.Elfa.se " to work as cooling.

Anyway i have emailed edmund optics for the Achromatic lenses to tighthen and (combine) the beams, and i got the answer that they wouldent suggest achromatic lenses as the Wavelength is near UV. And suggested me to use "Fused Silica lenses", and also he wrote:

-"To recommend a specific part though, I would need diameters and focal lengths."

What excactly does he mean? the diameter of the diode? focal lengths?

    Somebody?

Also he suggested to use this type of Beamsplitting cube:

i trust him but just wondering if anybody know of a better price somewhere? Although i know Edmunds have good quality i might aswell go with em.?

    Thnx for any answers.

Take care ppl and have a great weekend.

    /Rickard

What he's asking for is the desired lens diameter and its focal length.

Because you are combining beams, you do want to use a poarizing beam splitter cube, not a non-polarizing one.

Achromats and Apochromats i think are only necessary when you are trying to focus multiple wavelengths through them, because they are color corrected to have the same focal length for a range of wavelengths. Since you are passing monochromatic light, it doesn't matter as long as the spherical aberration is corrected near your wavelength.

ok so u dont suggest me to use the achromats but the "Fused Silica lenses" as he sayd?

Ok, about the beamsplitters you suggest me to use a Polaraizing Beamsplitter cube, opposite from what the guy sayd?

If thats the case would this item be the one im looking for?
