That would be very wise but one problem is that there will be considerable IR power in the output and that will go right though your green glasses - for these machines you need gigs that will protect against high power q-switched 532 & 1064

No it does not mainly because the ammount of power involved would destroy a filter - unless it was seriously large. The best way to separate the ir component as far as Im aware is using a prism and catching the ir with a beam dump. What you have to think about is how strong a filter or how good a coating would need to be to get rid of the ir. The coating or filter would get wrecked by the sheer power - Im not saying it cant be done but if you think about it in its everyday application the ir content is not a problem - it probably helps it burn away the flesh - hence the lack of a filter.

Indeed - all lasers are interesting but these big babies are so cool - same principals just much bigger!

They dont blank. if you want to blank them you need to do it with a scanner and corner mirror setup - externally.
They are for doing BIG beams outdoors - something that will be seen for miles - you can scan them with big mirrors and slow scanners as the beam is pulsed (the action of the Q-switch) but even though its at a fairly high repetition rate the scanrate is limited.

I sit me or have we hijacked this thread

    Jim,
Any pics of the hall or specs (length, height etc.)?
Just wondering if there'll be room for my 3Mx3M netting or is it a parochial village hall with room for four trestle tables for Womens Institute Car Boot sales and one electrical socket for the tea urn in the corner ......

The hall is approx 17m long x 12m wide. 6-7m tall lowering to around 4m.
There is a seperate room with windows overlooking the main hall.
It's white and pale yellow inside with kitchen facilities including tea and coffee stuff.
