    Default First RGB

    Hi All,
Just started on my first RGB!
I am using an od desktop PC case as the enclosure.
I figured as long as the optics and lasers are mounted seperately on a rigid base plate I will be OK.
You can see the general layout in the attached pics - with a gap for the red I won in the Cruch raffle! Next to it is the 50mw blue, also from LaserWave.
The scanners are te Scanpro 20's.
Will add more as I go along.
    Any comments/suggestions/questions very welcome.
    All the best, David

Looks good.. I'm suprised more people don't do this.
You end up with a metal case (good cooling) and a nice looking product.

The rigid base plate is real essential for RGB you dont want things moving flexing etc.
    I used 8mm ali' some I see use 10mm..

One trick is to run a couple of heavy , like 6mm L shape stiffeners along the back of your mounting plate. This ensures a flat plate and less tendency to warp and flex. I did this on mine.

Keep the pix coming as you build it up..

    Cheers

    Thumbs up

Looking good man! My second attempt at a projector was done in a Gateway 333 case. Looks almost exactly like the one you are using. You are using a better layout.

    hi David

lookin good ... is that the DMX board from lasershow parts ... ?

i like the idea of the folds on the back plate .... ive just used a standard flat 19" rack plate ... and it flexes every time i plug in and out

bet you cant wait for the red ....

    all the best buddy

    Hi Karl,
Yes, that is the Lasershow parts DMX board.
That back plate is a recycled blanking panel from work - as you say the folds do make it more rigid.
Yes - certainly looking forward to getting the red, but plenty more to keep me occupied in the mean time.

Just had a message from Brigde. He asked if I would like the beam height of the red to match the blue (it is normally about 5mm lower)
There's service for you! It will take a bit longer, but worth the wait I think.
He also askes if a beam height of 29mm for all would be good - any thoughts?

Anthony - Base Plate, yes I know it does not look very thick, but it is supported by two ali "U" sections - and I will probably add another down the centre.

Dac- not so good news there. Ordered Moncha Lite - almost a month ago -appears it has got lost in the post somewhere Micheal from Showtacle has started an investigation his end (it appears it never actually reached the UK) and has promised I will get a eplacement eventually.

Looking good. I see you are running green, blue, red with your dicros. The 15 mm ones I have from Bridge are Green, Red, Blue. He must have two different dicro sets for RGB.

    Hi Mike,
I have the older dichro's - on Robs UK laserwave site they are called GB and GBR types - maybe you have the more recent RGB one?
Looks as though we are both at about the same stage at the moment, though I might not get my red until early October.
I am so looking forward to seeing it workin, but I am determined not to rush things.
    All the best, David
