    Default World's First 642nm 150mW Laser Diode

    From optics.org

With its high output power providing exceptional clarity and visibility, the Opnext HL6385DG laser diode is ideal for use in laser display applications, such as laser light shows. It also offers the brilliance of a light source needed for next-generation miniature displays in the industrial and medical industries; a market which continues to grow due to the rising demand for mobile technologies.

Photonic Products, the UK opto-electronics device manufacturer and laser diode specialist, is delighted to be the authorised distributor of the World’s first 642nm, 150mW, single longitudinal mode semiconductor laser diode with TE mode oscillation; the Opnext HL6385DG.

This innovative laser diode from Opnext offers the highest optical output power on the market at a visible lasing wavelength of 642nm. It supersedes Opnext’s HL6366DG series high power red laser diodes (642nm, 90mW). Opnext’s technology breakthrough was achieved with a new development process, a new waveguide structure and optimised structural parameter.

The Opnext HL6385DG is a single longitudinal mode, low aspect ratio laser diode with optical output power of 150mW CW (typ), at a lasing wavelength of 642nm, operating current of 280mA, threshold current of 110mA, operating voltage of 2.6V and LD reverse voltage of 2V. The operating temperature range is -10 degrees C to +40 degrees C.

Supplied in a 5.6mm package with LD-only pin configuration, this is a single longitudinal mode laser diode with TE mode oscillation. The 5.6mm package size is particularly suited to small, energy-efficient displays and low-power, high-quality optical applications.

"Opnext is a global leader in high-performance optical components. Technological achievements such as this set them apart from their competitors," said Damon Cookman, Managing Director, Photonic Products Ltd. “We are proud to offer such high quality laser diodes to our demanding customers”.

Opnext laser diodes are lead (pb) free in compliance with the RoHS Directive.

All Opnext laser diodes are registered with the FDA of the United States and each laser diode is classified into class II, IIIa, or IIIb, according to the combination of the optical output power and wavelength values.

    Yeah, same as KVANT lasers
But they are using these properly (3X150mW=450-480mW, not 2x150mW=400-430mW!!)..this is what I thing!

Maybe we should try to do a group buy.
I think most of us using 658nm diodes now in their setup want to upgrade to 642 if the price is resonable. I know I do.
