#2, Spaghetti is an amazing program and it sucks that that a few people continue to ruin it for the rest of us... why do people continue to push developers buttons and egg them on and argue.

There are only a few people in the world that have the skill, drive, desire, and mindset to write FREE software specifically designed for LASER SHOWS..

as a matter of fact ALL of them are either employed by a laser software company, or trying to make it on the PL.

but there are still people that insist of pushing buttons and testing the patients of these developers. Thats what really pisses me off.
    Dude -

If you'll actually take time to read through the threads carefully, I think you'll find that "pushing buttons and testing the patients of these developers" actually came about because those same developers took it on themselves to jump on other competely unrelated threads and make totally unprovoked, snide comments / jokes / sarcastic remarks against the products, developers and employess of company products that MANY of us on this forum choose to use. Those comments, which contribute absolutely nothing to benefit this forum, have happened on NUMEROUS occasions over the last year, and frankly we're frickin' tired of it.

Like I and many others have stated -

Laserboy, Spaghetti, and other independent developmental efforts are GREAT, and the developers deserve a lot of recognition, which they generally get. HOWEVER - that does not give them the right to routinely jump in unrelated threads and act like an ass, OR get pissed off and basically throw a mini online "hissy fit" because one of the end users was having problems, and took a LOT of his own time to post examples of the issues he was having.

Again, the "pushing buttons and testing the patients of these developers" isn't becuase of just the crap that has gone on over the last couple of days - it's taken MANY months of totally unnecessary BS. NONE of us are bashing the work of the developers - we're just tired of the unnecessary "us vs. them" BS some of them seem to frequently generate.

Er, no - it's not. James decided to leave PL, but he is still developing LaserBoy and still releasing updates. He receives bug reports (via e-mail) and acts on them. He just doesn't post here anymore.

Gary has decided to pull the plug for everyone except his "friends". That's not even close to being the same result.

...and what about Gary pushing Bill's buttons? What's good for the Goose is good for the Gander.

This started because he took it upon himself to attack Bill (on numerous occasions) and then chose this thread to lash out.

Answer is you shouldn't dose out medicine if you can't swallow it yourself.

no i mean is that no matter how it happened, gary pulled spaghetti.

I guess i see it differently, i have worked with MANY developers and i know that they are difficult and tempermental and sometimes impossible to deal with.. and thats when they are getting PAID to work...

I'll agree with you there -

Other than the banter going on here, most of the unnecessary BS on other threads has pretty much ceased.

Also, as Buffo mentioned, there ARE still avenues for the independent developers to share their work, IF they want to!

Kudo to James for the work he continues to do, even if he isn't posting on the forums. If Gary decides to take a different route and "blow off" everyone (again!) because he's pissed off, as a potential end user I personally would feel a little hesitant to get too involved in using his software, since the long-term availability of support might be questionable, at best.

Same here - in addition to my military flight experience, I hold certifications from IBM, Novell, and Microsoft, and have had the "joy" of working with a LOT of developers, many of which fit that stereotype.

Sorry, but in my book, being a developer is NOT an excuse to act like an ass! If you can't deal with people on a basis that the majority can relate to, at least to some extent, you don't need to be posting on an open forum!!

well i like the guy... i dont give much credence to what is said here.. the facts are the facts, thats for sure, but the attitudes are completely fictional..

Buffo is actually a nice guy but some people think he is an arrogant egomaniacal ass..

talk to someone on the phone before you ever pass any judgment.. a handshake is even better.. bet you won't still think they are everything you thought they were in the forums.

and if you find out you DO like them.. remember that next time you are reading on of there posts..

don't separate yourself from humanity thru technology.. use it to bring humanity together at the speed of light..

I thought it had already been established that I was an arrogant, egomaniacal ass... Guess I've got some work to do then!

I agree that you can get to know someone a lot better on the phone, and better still in person. Nonetheless, I think I come off the same way in person as I do over the phone and via text-only communications. I certainly work hard to make that the case, anyway. Not everyone does though. (Thus the concept of "Internet courage", etc.) I'm not sure whether that is at play in this train-wreck of a thread or not.

nope... buffo, you come off as a bit of an ass in the forums..
i think the main reason is that you multi quote everything..
i find that the multi quote says "im gonna pick apart everything you said and insert my opinion over your to completely invalidate your entire post"

now in cases where you are agreeing and ADDING to the statements (like above) its completely ok..
