what is the point of running a driver for the peltier plate?

does it some how regulate the temp?

the reason i ask is i have ran mine off of straight 5 volts 800ma dc wall plug and it works fine.

the ones i have are also made to work off of 5-12 volts

this driver can be used on any tec its fully adjustable volts.

You can also adjust the power so adjust the temp amps.

The point of running a contol on the TEC is just that- control. You could just connect the tec to a psu and hope for the best but that will likely take the diode down to or below zero and ice will form. The best policy is to have the tec controlled so it pulls the heat outta the diode block but maintains it above dew point therefore you wont have to deal with condensation or you wont have to seal hermetically to keep out the air which will always contain water - unless you have an air conditioner in your laser...

gotcha thanks for the clarification. i kind of thought that may be the reason but i have left mine on for hours and hours without any condensation. but maybe a driver will be a good idea just for an extra added insurance

you could use a lot of different drivers.
