    Default relatively cheap laser shows

    hi

iv been looking around for some laser shows that are about 3 minutes long and set to well known music. im happy to buy it but i have not been able to find any that are relatively cheap. i have found two websites selling them and they are asking about $500 for 16 shows which i think is a bit expensive. i understand that nothing in being a laserist is free but is this not a bit steep? i would pay this amount if more shows were included.
if anyone knows of any where i can achieve this please can you get in touch with me. thanks alot

What software/controller system are you trying to find shows for?

There are a few available on the PL forums, plus I believe Pangolin is getting ready to set up a site for freely-distributable shows made for the LD2000 system.

$500 for 16 laser shows is really not much money at all. For professional shows, the historical going rate is around $250 to $500 per show. For example, you can take a look at this web site:
    http://www.spectrabeam.de/

You will see shows available for use on several software platforms, but AFAIK, the shows were originally made on Pangolin's LD2000 system and then converted to the other formats.

Also, my impression is that it might be difficult to find laser shows (at least quality ones) in the ILDA format because the ILDA format offers absolutely no protection what so ever from piracy. One unscrupulous person could buy a show in ILDA format, and then give it to all of his buddies... I believe that's one reason why you see a lot of shows on the Pangolin format, because we have a really good Digital Rights Management system, so that the artist can control distribution reasonably well. Even if an artist wants to give the show away free to all users, there are still controls that they can impose one exactly what someone can do with the "free" laser show, once they receive it.

    Best regards,

thankyou mate. To be honest i had thought that someone might say that it wasnt much as everything with this industry is expensive. and rightly so as someone has spent along time creating a laser show which to me is an art form. i love seeing a really well produced laser show.
bit off topic but has anyone on here seen the laser shows that are put on at an event in holand called qlimax. they are stunning. the videos can be found on you tube

Yes, absolutely. Those are done by Hugo Bunk of Laser Image. Here are some pictures of another event he did:

By the way, while on the topic of free laser shows, the LD2000 system comes with 100 free laser shows, and we are about to start a kind of "Network of users for the purpose of trading free laser shows" on our web site. We already have 20 shows for this site and it will hopefully grow rapidly after that. You can read about it here:

Yep, search for Awakenings Holland then take a look at the videos especially from the Gashouder event and the Detroit weekends, they'll blow your mind.

Hugo is by far the world's best laserist in my book having seen a lot of videos of his shows. His audience scanning and MPE work beggers belief!

This shot from Bill's page sums up a Hugo show perfectly:

However from a creation point of view its worth noting that he uses some very specialist lasers to get the intense colours he gets. I've been told previously he uses a mixture of Kvant projectors and Coherent Single colour colour projectors with custom heads.

As for shows, its a pity more people don't create and distribute shows for free. Its something I'd do to trance music simply because I'd be creating them for myself to use primarily.

Personally, I'd give ILP products a miss simply because I don't agree with the glamourisation of the 911 deaths, which that particular show seems to do.

One of the reasons I am writing Spaghetti is to provide a free solution for creating and viewing laser shows. Who knows whether or not it will ever catch on. There are some who are convinced that it won't but I'm not going to give up on it. I have only been working on it for less than a year. Who knows what it will look like 5 years from now.

firstly to you carmangary carry on doing what you doing mate cause if you put your mind to it things will happen. ignore a load of idiots telling you it wonk work. keep up the good work mate
also to you RGBLaserFan couldnt agree with you more about the laser shows created by these people. i wouldnt give money to anyone that does that kind of thing. i just used it as an example mate cause its hard to find places selling laser shows. in fact finding anything about laser on the internet is quite tricky which is why its a god send that someone created this space for everyone to talk about what we love.
    cheers everone
