Yeah it's mainly just the optics. My Omnichrome argon I sold to Drlava had a prism on the HR side to select the wavelength you wanted. But throwing multi-line optics on a single line argon may not work real well if the bore is small. (there's a bunch of info about this on Sam's FAQ)

    Cool

I'm pretty sure the JDS Uniphase tubes have hard-sealed optics, just like the small Spectra-Physics tubes do. If so, then you can't swap the optics to get multi-line performance out of a single line tube.

Yup, they are hard sealed. I was just curious more than anything, I already have a few multilines and I really wanted a single line, I was just wondering how they did it. Another thing I was wondering, and I think I already know the answer to this one, but was there ever any multiline blue argons made? For example, only 457 475 and 488nm? That would be pretty neat!

    yes,
I have a laser physics 250 mW 250-MBL, its in those argon dental curers you can get on ebay. blau-violet only.

you can get dichroic filters to seperate out just about any line your want, and highpass or low pass dichroics, ie a pass blue reflect green and do it ouside the laser, or just find a pcaom and do colro control till your hearts content :-)

In most non prism line selective lasers, the HR is multiline and the oC is wavelength selective. I've had folks hold a multiline HR in front of a single line 488 non prism tube and get green as a training demo.
